Proper home care can greatly improve ones oral and physical health. Adequate plaque removal can improve the breath, reduce the risk of dental decay, prevent gingivitis, and periodontal disease.
Some people experience dry mouth and dental sensitivity. Dry mouth can cause the plaque to calcify into tarter quicker and can increase the risk of dental cavities. Regular dental hygiene visits are important for achieving and maintaining a healthy mouth. In order to achieve optimum oral health, we find the following to work the best.
- Brush teeth with a Oral B powered toothbrush after meals.
- Floss after meals
- Use a water flosser by Water pik at least 1-2 x day (especially before bed)
- Use a tongue scrapper daily
- Dry mouth care: Biotene products, Salease lozenges, and sipping on water through out the day can all help moisturize the mouth.
- Dental sensitivity: MI paste ( calcium phosphate) or fluoride gel used with a delivery tray can be worn for 30 minutes as directed to reduce and prevent sensitivity.
- Cavity prevention: Tooth pastes containing fluoride, MI paste (calcium phosphate paste), fluoride mouth rinses, and Dentease lozenges.
